Today’s a very exciting day we’ve been looking forward to for a while now, our first ride on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! Join us as we explore the queue, pre-shows, and everything else this brand new attraction has to offer!

As we enter the queue, we are immediately immersed in the Galaxarium. This massive rotunda boasts a huge projection ceiling  which explains the history of the Guardians’ home planet Xandar, and why they are studying the Earth. Although you must keep moving throughout this portion of the queue, it would be easy to sit and watch the entire 30-minute presentation, it’s absolutely stunning.

Moving into the second part of the queue, we saw several displays of various Xandarian artifacts. Starblaster and Milano ships are on display, as well as a model of the metropolitan area of Xandar. We also noticed a few EPCOT easter eggs as well! There is plenty to look at to stay entertained while waiting in the queue.

Making our way into the first pre-show, we are greeted by the commander of the Nova Corps. She explains we will be apart of a special demonstration of the Cosmic Generator. This piece of Xandarian technology allows instant travel through space using “Jump Points”. We head into the next room, which is the teleportation chamber. Here, we teleport up to the ship for the demonstration. Shortly after teleportation, the ship loses power, and the Cosmic Generator is gone. Facing the ship is the Celestial Eson, who has stolen the generator. He then uses the generator to send Earth and himself back to the dawn of time. We quickly make our way out of this room, to board our Starjumper vehicles. Without spoilers, this pre-show was very entertaining, and had some impressive effects!

Let’s just start by saying, this ride absolutely blew us away. The ride was so smooth, and a perfect thrill level. For our ride, we got “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears. The music choice really added to the experience as we truly felt like we were flying through space. It was so immersive as you saw the Moon, Earth, and Milky Way Galaxy while being surrounded by millions of stars; it made us emotional.

The backwards launch was the most thrilling part of the entire ride, reaching a top speed of about 50 mph. There are 6 different songs you can hear when riding. Some of the other songs include, “Conga” by Gloria Estefan, “I Ran” by A Flock of Seagulls, and “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire. We’d say the intensity is in between Space Mountain and Expedition Everest. Although the ride vehicles do rotate on this ride, we found the spinning to be rather mild; probably a good idea to still be cautious if you are prone to motion sickness.

Overall,  this is a great addition to EPCOT, and fits in perfectly with the rest of the park. This attraction officially opens on May 27th 2022. We can’t wait to come back and try for different songs!
