Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is one of the most unique and immersive ways to experience Walt Disney World. Whether you’re staying in a cabin, an RV, or even a tent, Fort Wilderness offers a perfect mix of Disney magic and outdoor adventure. We recently spent a few days at the campground in a luxury RV, exploring everything from Halloween decorations to Magic Kingdom rides, golf cart tours, and s’mores by the fire. Here’s a full recap of our Fort Wilderness RV camping experience!

🏕️ Home Away From Home: Our Fort Wilderness RV Setup

Our RV for this trip was anything but basic—it felt like a tiny home on wheels! With a full kitchen, a residential-sized refrigerator, a cozy fireplace, and tons of storage space, we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Some of the highlights included:

✔️ Loft space for extra sleeping room

✔️ A large bathroom with plenty of storage

✔️ Spacious living area with big windows

✔️ Outdoor seating area and grilling setup

One of the best things about Fort Wilderness is how festive it gets—especially around Halloween. As we drove around in our golf cart, we saw elaborate campsite decorations, featuring giant inflatables, skeleton displays, and even minion-themed Halloween setups!🎃👻

🍳 Camping Breakfast & Cooking at the RV

Cooking in an RV was a fun experience! We made:

🍳 Eggs & croissants for breakfast

🍔 Homemade burgers for dinner

🔥 S’mores by the campfire

The gas stove in the RV cooked food evenly, making us think we might want gas appliances at home! We also experimented with different s’mores combos—including dark chocolate and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Delicious!

One important tip: Always check if the hot water heater is turned on in your rental RV—many times, it starts off!

🎡 Quick Magic Kingdom Visit

One of the best things about staying at Fort Wilderness is the easy access to Magic Kingdom via boat transportation. We hopped over to Magic Kingdom for a few hours of fun, enjoying:

🚗 Tomorrowland Speedway – Jackson drove and we “raced” other guests!

☕ Halloween-themed treats – including Mickey-shaped cinnamon rolls at Starbucks.

🎠 Dumbo the Flying Elephant – A must-do classic with the whole family.

🍔 Lunch at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café – While enjoying the legendary Sonny Eclipse show.

Crowds were manageable, especially on Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party days when the park closes early.

🚙 Golf Cart Exploring & Trick-or-Treating Fun

One of the biggest perks of staying at Fort Wilderness is renting a golf cart to explore the resort. Our loop was incredibly decorated, and we took nighttime rides to soak in the Halloween atmosphere.

🏡 Some campsites had full trick-or-treating setups with skeletons and animatronics.

🍬 We trick-or-treated around our loop and saw Pokémon, Bluey, and Star Wars displays!

🦇 Oliver’s favorite moment? Poking a moving inflatable pumpkin and freaking out!

For those staying during Halloween week, October 30th features a special “Beach Bash” event and fireworks viewing! 🎆

🌟 Final Thoughts on Fort Wilderness RV Camping

Staying in an RV at Fort Wilderness is such a unique and fun way to experience Disney World. The combination of outdoor adventure, holiday theming, and Disney magic makes it one of our favorite places to stay.

🎃 Would we do it again? Absolutely! Next time, we’d bring:

✅ A full trick-or-treat setup

✅ A skeleton for our campsite decor

✅ More hot sauce for those Disney nachos! 🌶️😂

If you’re considering RV camping at Fort Wilderness, we highly recommend it. Stay tuned for more in this Fort Wilderness series!
